Gold Silver Time - Jewellery and Watch Trade Show
About Us
As the organiser of the Gold Silver Time Trade Show we make every effort to improve our event. That is why your feedback is so valuable to us.
Gold Silver Time is an important factor in the development of Polish post-WWII jewellery art and craft. Although the event has been named GST for a relatively short time, having its origins in an earlier Warsaw trade fair, it helped us greatly to establish both internal and external professional contacts. Its contemporary format – an abundant programme of extra events, support of the designer community, professional organisation and the organisers’ friendly attitude – results in statistics which grow year by year and in an ever improving European standing.

Museums at the Fair is a ground-breaking event which has accompanied Gold Silver Time since 2001, introduced thanks to the inventiveness of the organisers of this Warsaw international fair. Despite the “age-long” tradition of exhibiting one’s collections only in dedicated facilities, museums took a daring, but not easy decision to present even the most precious exhibits at short three-day commercial events. It is a small-scale but remarkably ample project for spreading knowledge; in the case of the Museum of the Earth at the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), the project concerns amber, which, as a very typically Polish gemstone of special decorative value, has ever increasing presence at trade shows.
It is precisely the Warsaw Amber Collection, as one of the largest such assemblages in the world, that has filled in the gap which appeared after World War II and made fossil resin studies possible. The staff of the Amber Department created a platform for communication between amber researchers on the one hand, and amber jewellers and artists who work with amber on the other. Just as basic research (used for scientific development) requires the best knowledge of international scientific literature possible, participation in conferences and discussions with researchers, the knowledge of applied research (used in the jewellery industry, for instance) needs to be drawn from working with amber jewellers and from an understanding of the market.
The spreading of knowledge about amber through national and international exhibitions has to be a long-term project. We already know a great deal about amber and other fossil resins. This is evidenced by the extensive literature and broadly spread knowledge. And still, an average Polish person knows very little about amber. I have confirmed this many times, going on trains and coaxing fellow passengers to talk about the gemstone that is so common in jewellery art. On the other hand, a light has appeared at the end of the tunnel: 8-year-olds will read a text about amber found on a beach in their 2nd grade textbooks. This will give their teachers an idea to visit a museum and introduce this extremely old, distant but beautiful resin to the children. For a few years, it has also been possible at Gold Silver Time…

Gold Silver Time in Warsaw is currently the only trade event in which I have taken part since the first edition. I value very highly its organisation and the choice of accompanying events – it is in Warsaw that I found out the most about amber!

I have been involved with Gold Silver Time since its inception. In 2000, I sat on the jury of the Golden Girl competition and photographed Magda Kowal, its first winner. I value fine jewellery highly, so I am always happy to visit the Fair – over those 10 years quite a strong emotional bond has developed. For two years, I have also been close to GST in a more professional way: it was at Gold Silver Time 2007 that I received an official nomination as an honorary Amber Ambassador from the Mayor of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz. All this makes GST a remarkable place for me.

In 2008, there were many more Polish as well as international exhibitors at Gold Silver Time. Their offer was dominated by jewellery from Italy, Turkey and Thailand, with Polish manufacturers clearly in the minority. My assessment of the event’s organisation is good. Let me congratulate you on your marketing measures, which included inviting celebrities and the media to take part in GST, and the decision to advertise the event in the press and on TV. It is very important, as this is how you can encourage Polish ladies to wear jewellery.

Breuning GmbH was a first-time exhibitor at Gold Silver Time ’08 in Warsaw and I must admit that the results exceeded even our most optimistic expectations. We only regret that we were unable to see all those interested. The event has shown that there is room for our products in Poland as well – not only as regards brand name jewellery and wedding bands, but also comprehensive systems for optimum presentation of these product lines.
Andreas Uzarowski, area sales manager for Breuning GmbH
As each year, one of the main and most widely discussed GST events was the Exhibitors’ Evening. The Jan III Sobieski Hotel became the heart of the jewellery art and craft community. Cuisine-wise, as usual, it gained top scores; it’s so nice reminiscing about the tables laden with so many delicacies. The Organisers gave us, their guests, a feast in many flavours and aromas. Instead of traditional fashion shows, the event was graced with dancing shows which transferred the audience for a while to the Sunday edition of Dancing with the Stars. The evening was fabulous, filled with dance and flavour. See you next year! (quoted after an article about GST in Zegarki & Biżuteria magazine)

Last year’s Gold Silver Time can be spoken of very highly indeed. Everything was “the most,” with the largest number of exhibitors so far, the largest floor space rented, excellent organisation and an exceptionally good atmosphere during the event.<0} The financial results, as well as the number of new business contacts, exceeded our wildest expectations. This trade fair has a potential for development which was visible and palpable in each of the event’s aspects, including the media publicity it generated. Still, I hope that the best is yet to come, that the 2009 show will not only celebrate its 10th anniversary but also prove special in every respect. Our company is preparing a new surprise collection for this year. We are very much looking forward to October 2009.
